- THIS IS A LIVE, OUTDOOR EVENT! Please note the earlier time! -
It's that time of the year! No, we're not talking about Halloween; we mean OOToberfest!!
Every October, the entire international Opera on Tap organization hosts an annual fundraiser. Our singers will provide some of their greatest hits while we work towards our goal of raising $1,000!! This money will go towards running OOT Fort Wayne (annual dues, operation costs, equipment, and more).
This thrilling event will take place on Hop River Brewing Co’s patio*!! We’ve bumped up our start time so we can have some daylight for the performance. If you enjoy Opera on Tap Fort Wayne, then please tell everyone you know about this show. We want to make it a big one and can't do it without your support!!
*We are working with Hop River to monitor the COVID-19 pandemic during the seasonal changes. We are hoping the weather will be good enough to be outside. We will provide updates as needed! Plan to bring a jacket!... See MoreSee Less
Every classical singer begins with two objectives: 1) making the voice sound pretty, and 2) learning to sing in different languages! Lots of us start with the "24 Italian Arias and Art Songs," a compilation of early baroque songs and arias. We decided to bring back some of our beginner Italian repertoire from this compilation and more for our Opera Jamz for Beginners show!
We are thrilled to be partnering again with Three Rivers Distilling Company to provide you with a night of gorgeous Italian music!! Arrive early, grab a cocktail (or two), and come hear the songs that started our classical singing journeys!
Full disclosure here - as the weather gets colder and the new COVID variant continues to rage, we aren’t sure what will happen with OOTFW’s monthly shows after this one. We plan on continuing to do something, but we may have to go virtual again. So be sure to come out to get your opera fix at our September show, while outdoor performances are still possible!... Opera is often known for being grandiose, lavish, and verrrrrryyyy dramatic (ask us about how many characters sing high notes while they’re “dying”). However, opera can have its lighter side too! This time we’re going to showcase the “spin-offs”: operetta (aka opera-ish) and musical theatre. From the satirical stylings of Gilbert and Sullivan to the catchy tunes of Rodgers and Hammerstein, here’s a show that's just a little less dramatic.
We are proud to be partnering again with Hop River Brewing Company on their patio!! Be sure to make reservations ahead of time at the link below. It’s a good time to order a pilsner or IPA (or whatever fits your taste buds) and hear selections of some of the best light opera songs in the world, performed by some great local singers!... Today we have a testimony from soprano Natalie Lassinger Young as the next video of our #OOToberfest series!! She explains why she thinks #OOTFW is important before performing the beautiful composition, "The Hare Drummer" by Rachel DeVore Fogarty!
We are only one week away until Fort Wayne OOToberfest! with Hop River Brewing Company!! Stay tuned for updates as we keep track of the weather next Thursday! We are committed to protecting everyone by trying to keep the performance outdoors! Please consider supporting us through attending, donating, and/or sharing our fundraiser!!

Today, co-managing divo Ian Williams will be talking about our equipment needs as part of our #OOToberfest video series!! We don't need a ton of equipment, but it does cost quite a bit of money to purchase! Following this Ian reprises his modern take on the satirical aria, "The Senators Stump Speech" by Steven Mark Kohn!!
You can click the button below to donate to our annual fundraiser, even if it's just $5!! Also a reminder about our Fort Wayne OOToberfest! with Hop River Brewing Company on October 28th!! We look forward to seeing you soon!!
