Designed as an interactive musical walk, This is the Ground centers the voices of marginalized populations in American society throughout the ages and maps the American refusal to surrender.
With support from famed song historian Paul Sperry, music includes a diverse array of songs spanning popular and classical styles ranging from the 1790s to now.
Music includes compositions by William Bolcom, Margaret Bonds, Adolphus Hailstork, and Kamala Sankaram as well as folk songs, pop songs and spirituals inspired by the likes of Odetta and Patti Smith.
